“Roots: Unknown” - A film about adoption by Zara Phillips Movie and Discussion
Saturday, November 7th 2009 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Triangle Church 1000 Perimeter Park Drive Morrisville, NC 27560 919-929-0437
This is a 30 minute documentary examining the lifelong impact of adoption. This educational and informative film focuses on the emotional influence adoption has on the adoptee and their families. Interviews and sound bites with adult adoptees, their families and children are mixed with artistic images of their art and creative expression. Visual images centered on children’s artwork of family tree projects are woven with common themes and thoughts found in interviews. Roots: Unknown examines such questions as: How does being adopted affect each relationship? How does adoption affect family and children? What does someone touched by adoption need in order to feel emotionally whole?
Roberta MacDonald will be presenting this film with a discussion to follow. She is the Chairperson of the North Carolina Coalition for Adoption Reform and an adoptee. The mission of this group is: “The mission of NCCAR is to educate the public regarding adoption and adoption laws, to network with adoption agencies, adoption professionals and all people engaged in the interests of adoption in order to reform North Carolina laws that restrict access to adoption information to adult members of the adoption process.”
